Are your worried because your child wets the bed every night and you have tried almost everything and nothing has seemed to work? Well, don’t lose heart. There are many experts out there willing to help you out with bedwetting problem of your kids. There are preventive as well as reactive solutions. Preventive solutions are the ones that allow you to be careful even before your child reaches that stage. These are more useful approaches because bedwetting is very common among small children. Even after 5 years of age they don’t seem to come out of this psychological phenomenon and often wet their beds. Let’s find out some of the solutions of bedwetting.

The first thing to do to control bedwetting is to take your child to bathroom right before going to bed. Even in deep sleep some parents rouse their children and direct them to use the bathroom once or twice during the night. This is a preventive approach. Also, keep track of the quantity of liquid your child consumes especially before going to bed. Soft drinks often result in the production of too much urine and the bladder fills up before your child has had a chance to go the bathroom. Especially in winters don’t let your children drink too much water or soft drinks.

Diapers are an easy way to prevent bedwetting, but they are usually available for children up to only 4 or 5 years of age. After that your child himself will be conscious of using a diaper while other children of his age do not use them. Also, prolonged use of diapers will make your baby get used to it and he will never let you know whether he needs to go to the bathroom or not. Another drawback of using diapers is that they do not provide 100% leak control. If your child needs to use the bathroom thrice or even more during the night then diapers will not come handy at all.

When bedwetting does not stop even after your child has crossed the age of 6, then medications are also available to control this problem. Take your child to a doctor and see what he prescribes. Sometimes your child might also be experiencing some psychological problems, fear or anxiety and because of that they usually wet their beds during the night. A disturbed mind often creates uneasy dreams and as a result your child loses control. However, do keep in mind that in some cases drugs only provide a temporary solution to bedwetting. Try to soothe and calm your child and tell them funny stories before sending them off to sleep. If your child is fearful of darkness then don’t let him sleep alone.

The latest trend is to buy a bedwetting alarm and keep the problem at bay. These alarms come in different styles. They are placed inside the panty and go off when there is wetness inside. Although this is not a permanent solution either, but at least you can have an idea of the timings when your child wets the bed. The next time you can wake yourself up before that time and take your kid to the bathroom.
